Our School

Igniting Minds, Building Futures

At Alma Farrell Innovation Academy (AFIA), learning is designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and prepare every child for the opportunities ahead. We are a K–8 community where innovation, collaboration, and real‑world learning come together to empower students today and shape the leaders of tomorrow.

Our Mission

Driven by our collective responsibility to empower every child, we foster a new generation of collaborative learners, equipping them with the skills and mindset to become productive contributors to their communities and the workforce of tomorrow.

Our Vision

Where learning today sparks leadership tomorrow, uniting confidence, innovation, and partnerships to open endless doors.

Our Core Values

  • Collective Responsibility
  • Every Child, Every Day
  • Developing Productive Contributors to Our Communities

These values guide every decision we make and every learning experience we design.

Instructional Houses: Learning in Community

Students learn within multi-age instructional houses, each serving a grade brand and supported by a team of educators who know them well. Houses create belonging, stability, and a strong sense of identity.

  • Discovery House: Kindergarten
  • Inquiry House: 1st-2nd Grade
  • Exploration House: 3rd-4th Grade
  • CARE Academy: 5th-6th Grade
  • IDEA Academy: 7th-8th Academy

Teachers collaborate to design flexible learning experiences, using shared spaces and dynamic groupings to meet students exactly where they are.

Personalized, Rigorous Instruction

AFIA ensure every student receives:

  • Grade-level instruction aligned to learning progressions
  • Small-group intervention or enrichment
  • Inclusive supports for students with additional needs

Students move fluidly between learning spaces based on their skills, strengths, and goals.

Work-Based Learning from K-8

Our signature work-based learning program introduces students to the world of work through age-appropriate, hands-on experiences:

  • K-2: Discovery labs, career fairs, industry speakers
  • 3-4: Field trips, simulations, project-based iExplore specials
  • 5-8: Industry-aligned electives, mentorships, creativity, and leadership skills that prepare them for future pathways.
